Former DuBois city manager, fellow city employee federally indicted on theft of funds

Clearfield Co., PA (WJAC) — Federal authorities announced Thursday that former DuBois city manager John "Herm" Suplizio, as well as a fellow city employee, have been indicted following an investigation into allegations that the two conspired to steal hundreds of thousands of dollars in city funds. Investigators allege that from 2014 to 2022, Suplizio and 58-year-old Roberta Shaffer, who served as the city's secretary, conspired to "divert" city funds by using the city's tax identification number to create secret, personal bank accounts where the funds were deposited. Johnstown Redevelopment Authority can't operate sewer system

JOHNSTOWN -- In a lawsuit filed with the Court of Common Pleas in Cambria County, Westmont resident Willeam Choby alleged that the Johnstown Redevelopment Authority isn't allowed to operate the sewer system, something they currently do for 20 different municipalities in the Greater Johnstown area. The lawsuit also names Westmont Borough as requiring property owners to do expensive testing and retrofitting on their sewer lines when they move out, something the lawsuit says people in nearby boroughs and townships are not required to do. PennDOT issues travel restrictions, speed reductions on area roadways

2nd UPDATE:PennDOT has reduced the travel restrictions for Interstate 80 back to Tier 1. "Restricted vehicles include: motorcycles, vehicles with tow behind trailers, RV/campers, box trucks, tractors without trailers, permitted loads, empty tandem trailers, empty straight trailers, school buses, commercial buses and motor coaches without chains or ATD onboard." UPDATE: PennDOT has issued a Tier 4 vehicle restriction for Interstate 80, between I-79 in Mercer County to the US 220 South/PA 26 exit in Centre County. Read More...
