Former majorette sues PSU, claims she was bullied by coach; judge denies dismissal

University Park, PA (WJAC) — A federal judge has denied Penn State's request to dismiss a lawsuit against the university in which a former member of the Blue Band Majorettes claims she was repeatedly bullied and harassed by the squad's coach. The lawsuit, which was filed in December, cites numerous Title IX violations by the university and its former majorette coach, Heather Bean, who resigned in 2022. HOLLIDAYSBURG, Pa. (WJAC) — Saturday morning, high school student Sydney Lear learned the game of basketball while playing for a bigger purpose. "It's fun to be playing for a bigger cause, something bigger than basketball," she told 6 News. She was joined by 60 other kids for the Sideline Cancer Day basketball clinic held at Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School.
