Veterans given free rides to medical centers

JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (WJAC) — Veterans in Johnstown can now get free rides to medical centers four days a week. Rides will be available to the Johnstown outpatient clinic and the Altoona Veterans Affairs medical center Monday through Thursday. Rides must be requested at least three days in advance, and medical appointments should be scheduled between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. Veterans must also be able to get in and out of vehicles unassisted to be eligible for rides through this service. Altoona man sentenced for selling heroin to man who suffered fatal overdose

HOLLIDAYSBURG – A Blair County man was sentenced Thursday to 6 to 12 years in prison for selling heroin to a man who died from an overdose in 2015. A jury in February convicted Zachary Moore, 24, of possession with intent to deliver, criminal use of a communication facility and simple possession. Moore was also convicted of selling $75 worth of heroin to 22-year-old Jacob Willis, of Altoona, who died hours later of an overdose. Read More...
